What a magical experience... A beautiful well-kept secret of an island populated with the very friendliest people—beautiful sites around every corner, trees and trees full of tropical fruit, and so much incredible history (all of which I learned about thanks to our extremely hospitable and generous host and his lovely children who took very good care of us and gave us a tour of the island). I will always treasure this place in my memories!

Okuma-san and his family are very friendly and kind. The yacht looks small but is in fact very cozy and well equipped. The environment is perfect for those who love nature and fishing. It was a wonderful experience.

大分市民でも､釣り師以外は知らないような島ですが､行ってみたら自然の美しさはもちろん､海も山も楽しめる素晴らしい環境でした｡宿もとても広くてﾘﾗｯｸｽ出来ましたし､お料理が素晴らしかったです｡また､丁寧に色々と教えてくださったり､気にかけてくださり楽しい滞在が出来ました｡ありがとうございました｡

Nous avons passé la nuit sur le bateau d’Okuma. Nous ne nous attendions pas à cela mais ce fut une expérience surprenante et amusante. La mer est très calme et le voilier ne bougeait pas, bateau propre mais spartiate. Nous recommandons fortement d’opter pour le succulent dîner et petit déjeuner proposés qui sont d’un excellent rapport qualité-prix !

We are grateful to Okuma san for offering us his hospitality and warmth by giving us the opportunity to stay in his boat. Overall, the sea was calm, and it was very cosy for my parents and I. We enjoyed our delicious meal, carefully prepared by Okuma-san's wife, and at ¥1,500 per person, the meal is totally worth it! We happened to sleep in Okuma-san's boat, which was a really unique experience. Though it was cold as we were in january and there was no heater.

I had a wonderful time staying at Okuma-san's place. The views and scenery on the island were spectacular. I even got to participate in a festival that only happens once a year. As I had to leave really early to catch a train to my next destination, Okuma-san kindly took me back to Saiki port in his own boat as the regular ferry service had not started. Thanks for the great memories Okuma-san!

It was very special experience to visit onyujima island and to stay a night in a sailboat. Mr. Okuma was very kind and told me about yacht and life. He took us to a nice seafood restaurant where sea spa is also provided. I feel lucky to meet him and want to meet again someday.

His English is not that good it leads many misconceptions For example, the host encourages us to upgrade to another room three times and we accepted since he told us we just need to pay $1000 yen, however, when we check out we just realized that additional fee is 1000 yen per person so we need to pay 3000 yen extra. Besides, the host will start to encourage you to participate in his "upselling" activities. Yet seldom mention the free attractions. In short, It disappointed us.

Incredible stay on Okumas yacht. The family are the most amazing hosts! We ate fresh fish caught by Okuma and his daughter, the food his wife cooked in the guesthouse was the best we have had in Japan! During our stay we went to the beautiful sea onsen and did a hike around the island. We got a bit confused on which ferry to catch but the locals were very helpful pointing us to the marine bus near the supermarket. A must do experience in Japan!

GW中に2泊(1泊目はﾖｯﾄ泊､2泊目は民宿泊)させていただきました｡ ｢GWでも混雑していない場所で過ごしたい｣と思ってこちらを訪れましたが､まさにその通りのんびりすることがでした｡ ご主人に船で釣りや対岸にある｢塩湯温泉｣に連れて行っていただき､ﾖｯﾄ泊も快適でした! さらに､民宿の海の幸ﾒｲﾝのお料理はとても美味しかったです! 島内のあちこちで釣りができ､ﾄﾚｯｷﾝｸﾞｺｰｽもありますので､ぜひまた訪れたいと思います｡
